Perhaps another succinct way to say could be, 'this Scripture addresses us because it chielfy addresses/finds fulfillment in Jesus Christ (true Israel, etc.)'? That if the fulfillment of all promises/blessings of the OC era find their place in Christ, then via union we too may share in such things as 'fellow heirs.' (Insert how we too are exiles, etc.)
I generally find it helpful to think of God's promises to national/covenant Israel now meted to us through Christ and not apart from Him.
